Insurance coverage for therapies

Wondering if anyone has any experience with this...my son's speech therapy has been denied by our insurance (Blue Cross) for the upcoming year.  We are still on the waiting list for the waiver.  Any recommendations for what I can send in my appeal to prove it is "medically necessary"?

Re: Insurance coverage for therapies

I just got off the phone with Wellmark BCBS.  They told me that Speech Therapy is not covered with their insurance.  However, if you can get prior approval from your child's physician then they most likely will cover part of the speech therapy sessions.

I would contact your child's physician to get a prior approval sent to your speech therapist.
